Self Evaluation Test Description

This test is designed to allow potential candidates an opportunity to estimate their preparedness for a Certification Test, this self-administered pre-test of taxonomic background knowledge has been made available. The test consists of 50 multiple-choice questions regarding (1) the structure, function, and higher classification of aquatic invertebrates; (2) the taxonomic literature; (3) taxonomic specialists; and (4) taxonomic techniques and procedures. The questions are randomly selected from a database of test questions that is routinely updated. The test may be taken anytime after log in. The results of the test will be computed automatically and reported to the candidate at the conclusion of the test. A score of 95% or better is recommended as an indication that the candidate is prepared to take either or both of the Level 1 or Level 2 Certification Test. We hope that this test will evaluate taxonomic ability and demonstrate to supervisors and funding organizations that the candidate is a good risk for completing a Certification Test successfully.
